Privacy Policy

Short version: you can play everything here without an account and without giving us your name or email. Your streaks and progress stay in your own browser. However, this site does show advertising and does measure traffic, and those third-party services do set cookies and may profile you for advertising purposes. The detail is below.

1. Who we are

The Puck Games ("we", "us", "the Site") is an independent website offering free browser games about ice hockey. We are the data controller for the limited processing described in this policy.

2. What we collect

We do not ask you to register, log in, or provide personal details such as your name, email address, postal address or phone number. There is no user account system.

Data that does exist falls into three groups:

• Data stored on your own device by the games (section 3).
• Technical data that any web server receives when you load a page: IP address, browser and device type, approximate region, referring page and timestamps. Our hosting provider processes this for delivery, security and abuse prevention.
• Data collected by third-party services we embed, namely analytics and advertising (sections 5 and 6).

3. Data stored on your device

The games use your browser's local storage to remember things between visits. This information is written and read on your device and is not transmitted to us. It includes:

• Your progress in a daily puzzle, so you can close the tab and come back later.
• Your statistics: games played, win percentage, current and longest streaks.
• Whether you have already finished today's puzzle.
• Preferences such as your chosen site language, and the last setup you used in the career simulator (surname, number, position, nationality) so you do not have to type it again.

Clearing your browser's site data erases all of it, permanently. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had a copy.

4. Data we read from our servers

Some games load reference data from our database provider, such as the list of competitions, clubs and trophies used by the career simulator. This is a one-way, read-only request: the Site fetches sporting reference data, and no information about you, your player or your results is uploaded, stored or associated with you.

Your career exists only in your browser while you play. When you close the tab, it is gone unless you saved the summary image yourself.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which games are played most and whether anything is broken. This service sets its own cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser information, and how you reached the Site.

We use these reports in aggregate. We do not try to identify individual visitors and we do not upload any customer data to the service.

6. Advertising

This Site displays advertising through Google AdSense in order to stay free. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or read identifiers already in your browser in order to serve and measure ads.

To be explicit, because our previous policy was not: advertising technology of this kind can involve profiling and can track activity across different websites. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, non-essential cookies of this kind should only be set after you consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

7. Why we may use your data

• To run the Site. Serving pages, keeping them secure and preventing abuse. This is our legitimate interest in operating a functioning website.
• To remember your game progress. Strictly necessary for a feature you asked for by playing.
• To measure traffic and to show advertising. Based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

8. International transfers

Our hosting, database and advertising providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. These providers rely on the safeguards available to them under applicable data protection law, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

9. How long we keep data

• On your device: until you clear your browser data. We set no expiry.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security and diagnostics.
• Analytics and advertising: retention is determined by those providers, as described in their own policies.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, erase, port or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. You may also withdraw consent for analytics and advertising at any time.

Because we hold no account and no identifier for you, in most cases we will not be able to locate any personal data relating to you. For data held by the analytics and advertising providers, those requests are best directed to them, and we will help where we can.

If you are in Spain and believe your data has been mishandled, you can complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). Other countries have their own supervisory authority.

11. Children

The Site is not directed at young children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the Site, contact us and we will look into it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Site changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. Significant changes will be made obvious on the Site itself.
